Pre-agent or demo go-live checklist

With new product releases happening what feels like every week, PMMs, SEs, and other GTM team members are publishing more demo content than ever.

Which makes it really hard to find the time for QA.

While it’s tempting to just hit publish and move on to the next to-do, skipping a more thorough testing process increases the risk of putting a not-so-polished demo in front of a prospect (when you could be making a great impression instead).

To help you avoid any mishaps – and avoid sinking hours into QA – we’ve put together a checklist you can run through for any interactive demo or agentic demo you plan to send to prospects, with some tips for speeding up the testing process with AI and MCP tools.

How QA differs for interactive demos vs agentic demos

Making sure you’ve got all your ducks in a row for an interactive demo is a little different than double-checking an agentic demo.

As a reminder, an interactive demo is a self-guided, clickable product walkthrough that lets prospects explore features at their own pace.

When prepping to launch an interactive demo, you’re going to focus on:

  • Click-path accuracy. Are there any extra steps? Missing steps? Are you getting a person who’s never seen your product before to an aha moment?
  • UI screenshots or HTML captures. Do these reflect the current look and feel of the product? Is there something in your captures that you want to remove (a name or account number) or update (switch all opportunity names to telehealth companies)?
  • Messaging. Do the tooltips and other copy align with how you’re positioning your product?
  • Links and navigation. Buttons should move people in the right direction (“Next” or “Back”), and any CTA URLs should go to the right place.

A sloppy interactive demo leaves prospects skeptical that your product works the way you say it does.

When setting up an agentic demo – which we define as interactive conversational experiences powered by an AI agent that navigates your product or content autonomously – you’re going to focus on:

  • Conversational accuracy. You want your agent to answer correctly, drawing on your docs and wikis. It should be able to answer common questions prospects come in with ease, and ask just the right number of qualification questions to determine whether they’re worth a rep’s time (and if so, give that rep some context).
  • Fallback handling. If the agent doesn’t know the answer to a prospect’s question, you don’t want it to hallucinate one. It should escalate to a human instead.
  • Guardrails. The agent needs to stay on-brand and steer clear of areas you don’t want to expose, like competitor commentary, unreleased features, or internal pricing. The agent should only speak to what it knows or can find.

A sloppy agentic demo can put wrong information (even your competitor’s name) directly in front of a prospect.

Full QA Checklist

Whether you’re working on an interactive demo or agentic demo, running through each of these steps will help you feel more confident you’re putting your best foot forward for your prospects.

Using AI and MCP to run part of the QA pass

Your demos should always get at least one fully human pass.

Only you can make those judgment calls on messaging and positioning, nuances in brand voice, the order of demo steps. And only you can do a true visual QA.

But using AI can help you triple-check your work and make improvements faster.

One way is to use our MCP’s built-in Demo QA Checklist skill, which automatically flags broken navigation, missing links, and spelling mistakes.

Below is a full video of how to use it, but if you’re short on time, here are the high-level steps:

  1. Install the Navattic MCP. Steps to configure your specific agent here.
  2. Download the Demo QA checklist skill from the Skill Library and add it to your agent
  3. Ask Claude or ChatGPT to use the Demo QA Checklist skill and let you know if there’s anything you should change before publishing.
  4. Review the list of changes it suggests. It’s up to you which ones you fix. Let’s say you pick two of four suggestions.
  5. Ask the tool to fix those two suggestions. It’ll make those changes in the Navattic editor in draft status.
  6. Approve the drafted edits and push the ones you’re comfortable with live.

Navigation and flow checks

Here’s where you’ll test the structure of your demo.

For interactive demos

If you’ve been working on it the past few hours, walk away from your computer or work on something else for a while so when you come back, you’ll have fresh eyes to check for:

◻ Orphaned buttons and dead-end clicks. Replace those with real links, next steps, or delete them.

◻ Steps that don’t advance or loop incorrectly. Make sure to test with your keyboard keys as well.

◻ Flow order. Put yourself in a prospect’s shoes. Does this make sense? Does it make you excited to use it? If not, you need to make some tweaks.

◻ Cross-device rendering. Open it up on your phone. Do the captures look off? Try it on Firefox or Safari in addition to Chrome.

For Navattic agents

Make sure your conversation builder matches how you want the conversation to flow.

We tend to see this overall talk track work well:

  1. A quick greeting, like, “Hi, I’m an AI agent from XYZ company. You can interact with me via chat or voice.”
  2. Followed by just one disco question. The agent can always ask more qualification questions throughout, and it’s better to dive right into the product (what people came to the demo to see).
  3. Show something. Jump into a presentation step so the prospects can see the product in action.
  4. End on a CTA. Use the answers from any qualification questions to decide what CTA to use (book a demo versus inviting them to explore case studies).

According to our 2026 State of Demo Automation report, interactive demos have an average of 5 CTAs per demo. And the most common CTAs are: “Try for Free” (21%) or “Book/Request a Demo” (18%).

Content accuracy checks

As judicious as you think you’re being when you put together your interactive demo (or whatever data your agent is consuming), it’s easy for mistakes to slip through, or for documentation to fall out of date without you noticing.

Scan for:

◻ Outdated screenshots. You might need to swap in ones that reflect your product’s current UI. A prospect who’s done their homework might notice a mismatch before you do, and wonder why yours is out of date.

◻ Outdated feature names. Maybe you renamed your product recently. There are so many little places an old feature or product name could be hiding.

◻ Stale data. Think: stats, pricing, customer logos. Not updating these can confuse prospects or make them start to question how seriously you’re taking this deal.

Pro tip

Use Ask Navattic to surface issues like these and update them in bulk.

If you’re not familiar, Ask Navattic is an AI assistant embedded in the Navattic dashboard.

You can use it to query your workspace data (i.e., demo performance, visitor engagement, accounts, and referrer sources) without ever leaving the Navattic app.

You could also use your LLM of choice to make these updates if you hook it up to our MCP server.

For Navattic agents

Use the Preview feature to fact-check your scripted responses and nip any hallucinated or outdated claims in the bud (without using any of your pre-set conversations).

Messaging and terminology consistency

Every person on the PMM team works so hard to produce a cohesive product story, and you want your demos to follow it.

This is where you make sure your demos hit the right notes. Double-check your:

◻ Copy. Is it engaging? Does it match the brand voice? Or does it sound like it came from a completely different company?

◻ Terminology. Are you calling a feature one thing in step 3 and another in step 8? Small mismatches like that can crop up, especially if you have a few more colloquial names for a feature internally. A prospect looking or listening closely will pick up on that.

◻ CTA wording. It has to match the offer. If the button says “Try it yourself,” a prospect expects to land on a free trial or freemium plan signup page, not pricing.

Pro tip

Ask Navattic or our MCP can be helpful here, too.

For either an interactive demo or an Agent ask them to find places where the messaging isn’t faithful to your style guide or where your demo uses old product terminology.
