Highlights & Results

  • Nextpoint's product marketing team built a Navattic demo for decision-makers at a major client who were not power users
  • A checklist-style demo compared two product suites side by side, then broke down each on its own
  • The result: a 3-year renewal, plus inbound interest from a new global office of the same firm

The challenge: the people deciding on renewal weren't the people using the product

Nextpoint is a unified eDiscovery and case-building platform for law firms. Its two core suites map to two different jobs: discovery (gathering files and evidence) and litigation (building the narrative from that evidence). Different users at a firm need each one, and getting a firm to adopt both has been a persistent gap for the product.

One global client illustrated the problem clearly. The account was using Nextpoint's discovery suite but hadn't touched litigation at all. Heading into renewal conversations, Stephanie Bernstein, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Nextpoint, and the firm's Client Success Manager needed to show both the value the client was already getting and the value they were leaving on the table.

The harder problem: the people in the renewal conversation weren't Nextpoint users.

"Client success was having conversations with decision-makers that were global partners at the firm, or head of IT at the firm. They were not the paralegals and the associate attorneys using Nextpoint."

A screen share or a slide deck wasn't going to answer that question for someone who'd never used the product. Bernstein turned to Navattic.

Where Navattic fits: a side-by-side walkthrough for non-users

Bernstein used Navattic's checklist format to solve the core problem: showing two suites as one platform, then showing what's distinct about each.

"I did leverage the checklist to show the side-by-side comparison, a quick overview of the whole platform, and then what's offered in litigation versus discovery."

That structure also let her make the case for a feature that could otherwise get lost in a suite-to-suite comparison: an AI capability available on every plan, in both suites. She used detailed steps with short descriptions throughout, but the step count is where this demo departed from her usual playbook.

"Typically for the marketing or sales-focused demos, I'll stick with 10 to 12 steps. This was a bit more lengthy because it was client education. This wasn't something we were going to walk through on a call, it was a leave-behind. We were just hoping someone clicks through it, understands, and gets everything we wanted from the message."

That demo, and a companion one, ran closer to 20 to 22 steps each, roughly double her standard length, because no one from Nextpoint would be in the room to narrate it.

The results: a renewed account that expanded

The renewal closed with a 3-year commitment. The firm's director then forwarded the demo link on her own, to the eDiscovery manager and the legal AI engagement manager, with instructions for adding it to the firm's internal learning hub and its global AI tools.

"It's really showing how we've been able to not only renew the account but expand within it."

That expansion showed up twice. While Bernstein was preparing this presentation, a new global office of the same firm reached out on its own.

Key takeaways

  • When decision makers have never used the product, a demo built for them does the explaining a call or deck can't.
  • Checklists are a fit for multi-suite or multi-product comparisons: whole-platform overview first, then the individual pieces.
  • A single-account demo doesn't stay single-account. This one got forwarded internally, landed in a learning hub, and reached an additional office before Nextpoint asked for either.

Nextpoint also leverages Navattic on its newly redesigned website.
